Ahoy! The Jolly Roger Add On Pack is here!

Genie and I are back with another set of fun raglan tees for our kids! Patterns for Pirates is celebrating Raglan Week this week, and as part of the celebration, they are re-releasing an updated Jolly Roger Raglan. But the best part is they designed an add-on pack to go with the raglan! I’ll talk more about the add-on pack in a minute but first….the basic shirt.

Genie and I both tested the updated basic raglan pattern. I love when pattern designers include layers in their patterns, and it makes taping and piecing the pattern quick and easy! Here are some adorable pics of Genie’s little guy wearing a 6 month short sleeve version with a triangle accent. Seriously, could he be cuter?!

I whipped up 4 Jolly Rogers for my boys too. I upcycled the sleeves from clearance mens shirts making them super fast because I only had to hem the bottom. I used a cotton spandex from Walmart which is so soft! My kids have even been wearing these to bed.

My boys each have their own favorite colors so it was fun to make them shirts with their favorite colors. As a bonus, that makes my laundry easier to sort since they’re all so close in size!

When Judy at Patterns for Pirates announced they were making an add-on pack for the Jolly Roger raglan, I jumped at the chance to test that too. The add-on pack includes a basic hood, a crossover funnel hood, kanga pocket, inseam pockets, cowl, funnel collar, ruffle bottom, and thumbhole cuffs.

I tested the basic hood and thumbhole cuffs. If there is one shirt feature my boys request on a near-daily basis, it is thumbhole cuffs! As always Judy’s instructions are clear and contain a video to make them easier to understand. Joseph loves the cuffs, and they were a perfect length on the sleeves.

The hood size was adjusted a bit in a second version, but this first version one still fits Joseph well. I used red cotton lycra and Marvel knit from Peek a Boo Pattern Shop. As you know, these are some of my favorite fabrics to use.
jrr4Thanks for joining us for our contribution to Raglan Week over at Patterns for Pirates. Head on over to their Facebook group to see all the beautiful versions of the the Jolly Roger and add-ons. The ruffle shirts are just adorable!
