Special Occasions in Style with Simple Life Pattern Company: A Blog Tour

I have been so excited for this special occasion blog tour! Several weeks ago Becca said “We should do a blog tour for the holidays!” Or maybe Katie said that. Or maybe it was my idea – but I’m blaming Becca for now. In any case, Simple Life Pattern Company has decided to bring you an amazing line-up of bloggers and their SLPco Holiday creations for a spectacular #SLPcoHolidays blog tour. Even better? There is a sitewide sale :  you can shop ALL the patterns and save 20% using the code “SLPcoSpecial” during the blog tour. Make sure you read all the way to the end of my post to enter the giveaway to win fabric and patterns from some amazing sponsors! Continue Reading

Love Notions Sloane Blog Tour

Brrr! Baby, it’s cold outside so I’m keeping this post short and sweet! Did you see my post last month about the new girls’ Sloane sweater? This beautiful pattern was originally just in ladies’ sizing so I couldn’t leave my own closet bare when I saw how cute my daughter looked in hers! You can buy the Sloane bundle for both ladies’ and girls’ here.

For the blog tour, I opted to make something that is just my fit and style these days. I live in the upper Upper Midwest (like almost to Canada, yo). I sewed up View A with the optional yoke. I added 3″ to length both to account for the usual 2″ I add for my 5’10” height and also because I like my tops to run a little long to accommodate all the chasing and bending I do all day as a “go-everywhere-but-home” homeschool mom. Fit for a Princess: Halloween Style

Hi friends, old and new! I’m excited to be participating in the Sew Fun Blog Hop hosted by Faith and Fabric today! If you’ve never visited Sew and Tell Project, make sure you stick around and follow us on Instagram here and me (Eleri) here! Thanks, Jen, for having us today! Make sure you read through the post and visit the other makers on the Blog Hop at the bottom of the page.

Can you believe Halloween is just around the corner? It sneaks up on me every year. This year, I am headed to International Quilt Market in Houston (in 10 days!!!) so I want to be sure my kids have their costumes ready before I go so I can just enjoy the festivities when I get home. Exploring new fabrics and new patterns for fall…..

Fall is in the air where I live in North America! Our days are still seeing nice afternoon temperatures, but you can feel the chilly edge when you jump out of bed in the morning or go outside to tell the kids it’s bed time. I did not sew as much for myself this summer as I would have liked, but I did make a few dresses that saw heavy rotation through the summer. I appreciate nothing more than wearing clothes that fit me and the confidence that it brings to my day. Continue Reading

Gracious Threads Softshell Jacket

I’m really excited to be blogging about the new Softshell Jacket from Gracious Threads today! If you’ve been following Sew and Tell Project for awhile, you might remember that Jessica was the winner of Season 12 of Project Run and Play!  I can’t believe it’s been almost exactly one year since we competed in this awesome sewing competition.

We’ve stayed connected to the other contestants throughout this past year. When Jess needed testers for her new Softshell Jacket though, I noticed that I had some free time in my sewing calendar so I hurried to sign up because the sewing community is cool like that. Bonus: This jacket is exactly what the kids needed for our upcoming trip to the U.K. Continue Reading

Digital Designs from Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop!

Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop is one of our favorite sewing pattern and fabric shops and we talk about them a lot on this blog!

But did you know that PAB recently expanded to include digital designs for use with your Cricut or Silhouette cutting machines?

I have been requesting for quite some time that there be a homeschool themed cut file for those of us prepping to go back to school…..right at home.  I’m entering my sixth year homeschooling my children and I have to confess that I get a little bummed when I see all the teacher-themed items filling up the Dollar Spot at Target and none of it is for me. Easing into Motherhood: One Stitch at a Time

I feel that I could write a chapter on the influence of sewing and motherhood on my life. I hope I can do this topic justice in one blog post.

I’m honored to have been invited to contribute to the #EaseIntoMotherhood series hosted by Jodi, Erin, and Monserrat. Here is a collection of my thoughts as a mother who sews.

The following testimonial will include the role sewing has played in enhancing my personal life and happiness over the past ten years. It does not include the tremendous support I have received from my husband, our extended families, our faith, and our community in my parenting journey.  Continue Reading

Sew Caroline Weekend Style: A Blog Tour

Wow! Our little blog is hopping this week! Today is my turn on the Sew Caroline Weekend Style Book Blog Tour!

A couple months ago the fabulous Caroline Hulse of Sew Caroline invited me to participate in her Weekend Style blog tour! Of course I agreed! I had already received my pre-ordered book and fallen in love with the projects! The book is just beautiful to spend an afternoon reading through and planning. Within a few hours of receiving my copy I had my first pattern printed, taped, and sewn. Continue Reading

Cool, Fun, and Flirty: The Laela Jeyne Summer Collection

I am so excited to be a stop on the Laela Jeyne Summer Collection Patterns Tour! I first started using Laela Jeyne Patterns for myself last fall. Some of the items I have made from Laela Jeyne Patterns have been my most worn items in our closets! Even though this summer has been super busy for us, I could not resist signing up to share about some of the new patterns!

My new favorite top is the Dahlia Tank Top. It looks like a simple tank, but it is hands-down the best tank top I have made for myself. It is fitted, but not too fitted, and includes pattern pieces for different cup sizes! This is HUGE for me. I can print just my size and cup size pieces and get a tank that fits perfectly on the first try! I sewed a size Large B-Cup. (Sewing note: sewing cup sizes are different than bra cup sizes – make sure you measure and go by the chart!) I love sewing clothing for myself from my large stash of cotton lycra knits. My tank is made with 1/4″ knit stripe by Riley Blake Designs. You can grab some here! Continue Reading
