Fly away with me with PAB!

I tested the newly-released Wonderland Wings by Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop. The Wonderland Wings pattern includes three unique wing shapes: butterfly, fairy, and dragon. Testers also used the shapes to make angel and bat wings! This is a very versatile pattern to be used for Halloween or everyday dress up. I finished each pair in about 2 hours from cut to finish. The wings are made with 2 layers of very stiff interfacing to give them a nice shape! I was intimidated at first to sew with two layers of Peltex 71F on my little machine, but the tutorial includes tips and suggestions to make it easier.

While you have seen him here on occasion on the blog, it was my son’s first time as an official pattern test model! I chose a gorgeous olive green batik print from Hobby Lobby because I wanted his wings to have a textured look to them and I am very happy with how they turned out. He loves them!

He just loves being Mommy’s little dragon! Can you see how happy he is? I took advantage of this weekend’s 50% off notions coupon at JoAnn’s to stock up on colored FOE to match the kids’ wings! pabwings11

My Little Miss also loved getting her new pair of Butterfly wings that I made in prints from two of my favorite Art Gallery collections: Lavish and Emmy Grace. While you are picking up your copy of the Wonderland wings, you can also grab some AGF quilting cotton at PAB to create your own neat look! I used Heat ‘n Bond Ultralight to position my wing accents to help me during the applique process. I am very pleased with how they turned out!

Finally, even my 8-year-old Middle Miss still appreciates dressing up and playing with her littlest siblings. While the Wonderland wings are “one size fits all” they include suggested strap lengths to fit children of different ages. It is very easy to get a custom fit by shortening or lengthening the elastic!
