Get a little bit of Sunshine with P4P!

Hello lovelies!

I’m going to give you a little summary of the Sunshine dresses that Alisha, Genie, and I whipped up this past week during testing for Patterns for Pirates.

The new Sunshine dress has several options that make it a versatile staple for every wardrobe. There is a crossover bodice, halter bodice, and a strapless bodice. The skirt options include maxi length, above knee length, and below knee length. There are optional dress pockets as well. Both the halter bodice and the strapless bodice are lined, while the crossover bodice is finished with bands.

I made mine in a navy cotton spandex from Spandex by Yard. I had made my original with some 1″ stripe fabric, but the way the crossovers work on this dress, I didn’t like the way the stripes curved. I personally think the crossover bodice works best with small scale prints and solids.

Here is my side view. I chose to sew without pockets as I did not want additional bulk over my tummy. I’m really pleased to have a new pattern to dress up for date night, or dress down to be comfy at home. This is the longest period of time I’ve gone in awhile without being pregnant or nursing so I’m really enjoying wearing some fun dresses! (P.S. The crossover dress does pass the nursing access test at least in the material I made!)

Sunshine Dress Detail

Remember what I said about small scale prints? I ADORE Alisha’s dress. The small scale herringbone knit from Hobby Lobby adds some visual interest and looks absolutely adorable. Alisha’s picture perfectly showcase the bodice crossovers and the gathering details.

I love how feminine Alisha looks in her new dress and I can’t wait to copy her style!

I have beautiful friends.

Speaking of beautiful friends…. Let’s check out Genie and her amazing maxi dress! She is modeling this fabulous tie-dye rayon spandex print from JoAnn’s.

Genie looks breathtaking in her P4P Sunshine with crossover bodice. She also used the pocket option.

I love how with the crazy tie-dye print, the pockets are kind of hidden but still accessible.

I think Genie’s gorgeous maxi demonstrates how it is possible to get dramatic results even with the quick sew that the P4P Sunshine Dress is!

Genie, Alisha, and I all have similar tastes-  this isn’t the first time we’ve tested the same version of the same pattern. I do know that after looking at all the tester photos, I am inspired to try this dress in other views with different fabrics now that I know how it fits me!

Make sure you head on over to Patterns for  Pirates to grab your copy of the Sunshine Dress while it is on sale for the release price of $7.50 and check out the other fabulous views!

Such cute dresses! I just bought a dress in similar style from Loft and LOVE how great it is for nursing! I can’t wait till the day I have a sewing machine, though, and can try to sew one myself!
