Guess What is Coming to the Sew and Tell Project?!

I (Alisha) have been quite quiet over here on the blog for quite a few months. I hope you missed me! I have a wonderful reason for being so quiet. We are expecting baby #5 in about 8 weeks! Right now I have 4 boys, ages 9, 7, 6, and 3, and we are very excited to announce that we are expecting a little girl! It was shocking news that I’m not sure I’ll believe until I actually see her!

Getting to sew little girl clothes has been so much fun! Caroline Hulse of Sew Caroline, a designer for Art Gallery Fabrics, provided me with some beautiful designs from her Chalk and Paint collection to sew up for my new little girl.

First, I used Spray Blooms Bright and Short Lines Burst to make a Baby Lucy from Simple Life Pattern Company. I love the simple lines of the Baby Lucy, and this floral print makes for such a cheery dress for early summer.

I braved my fear of metal snaps and used open ring snaps from Snap Source for the closure on the back of this dress, and I love them!

For my other two looks, I returned to my favorite layette sets, the Lullaby Line from Peekaboo Pattern Shop. First I used Let’s Chalk Outlines knit along with Art Gallery’s solid, Crystal Pink, for the Kimono Kid top and Happy Buns Britches.

Of course I had to add the optional ruffles to the back of the pants 🙂 I love the simple lines of the kimono top and am looking forward to having some tops that I won’t have to wrestle over tiny baby heads!

For my final outfit, I used the Lullaby Line Snap Pajamas. This is one of Amy’s newer patterns, and I just love the offset snap front. I used Caroline’s Triangle Brush Tempera knit along with the same Crystal Pink solid.

I made these in a 6 month size so they will fit through fall and hopefully part of winter too! For both the kimono and the snap pajamas, I used size 16 Kam Snaps. The Kam pliers makes for a quick and easy install.

Thanks for celebrating our exciting news with us! Stay tuned for pics of our new little bundle at the end of April or the beginning of May!

Thank you! This is the first newborn I’ve sewn for and it’s a lot of fun. Maybe you’ll have to start making baby gifts 🙂
