P4P Timeless Tunic

I have a confession to make.

I buy fabric to make things for myself, but never make anything. I end up hoarding it, or using it for my kids. Pattern testing for myself has been an awesome way to break me out of my shell. Since I have sewn wovens for many more years than knits, I was super excited when Judy from Patterns for Pirates announced that she had a woven pattern almost ready for testing. As soon as the call went out, I signed on. And you know what?

This is my favorite piece to date. I give you the Timeless Tunic by Patterns for Pirates. It is on sale for $7.50 through Sunday, September 18, and is also available in sizes for your littles (mommy and me!!), the Tiny Timeless. There is a bundle of both patterns, on sale for $14. The women’s pattern runs through sizes XXS to Plus 3x. It can be made as a top, tunic with curved hem, or above-the-knee-length dress. You can choose to make a tank, short sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, or long sleeve. The 3/4 and long sleeves are finished with elastic.

The top is fitted at bust and waist with the use of darts and an elastic casing, and floats over your tummy and hips. The neckline (and armscyes if you choose to make the tank version) is fully finished with a facing. This slips over your head with no closures (yay! No buttonholes!).

I love the way this top fits, and how I look in it. I chose a rayon challis in a fierce animal print. My blouse is the top length, 3/4 sleeve version. I love that this pattern could be dressed up or dressed down based on the fabric you choose, and even how you choose to accessorize it. Speaking of accessories…

I brought out the big guns for this photo shoot. Does anyone else have a pair of shoes that you love, paid too much for, and never wear? Yup. I want to love my 9 West slingbacks, but my feet just don’t like them. đŸ˜‰

I think you could actually make this top with knit fabric, too, for a different look. You’ll probably need to size down if you choose this route.

So, in summary? You need to go get the Timeless Tunic pattern and make yourself a bunch of them. You won’t regret it.
