Advent Preparation: Jesse Tree Ornaments

November is half over already, and the season of Advent is fast approaching.  Now is the time when we are trying to make our Christmas gift shopping lists, plan out Christmas sewing – outfits and gifts alike, design our Christmas cards, and get things organized for the upcoming holidays. Ideally, many of these tasks will be finished before Advent starts four Sundays before Christmas. We can then spend our time throughout the Advent season preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ and experiencing the calm, joyful expectation of the season in the peace of our home with our family.   One beautiful tradition that we are incorporating into this liturgical season is the Jesse Tree. Mother + Daughter Summer Caye Shorts from Love Notions

On Friday, Eleri shared the Love Notions’ Summer Caye shorts and split-hem pants she made for her darling toddler.  You can see pictures and her pattern review here.  Today, I’d like to share with you the Summer Caye shorts from Love Notions that I sewed up for me and my mini-me!

There are a few reasons for that volume of sewing (not that I have to justify sewing excessively to my readers, I imagine). Continue Reading

I sewed up 7 pairs of the new Wonderland Mittens from Stitch Upon a Time in just one evening. Before you read this post, go download the pattern because it’s FREE! Continue Reading

Sewing with Custom Knits… and my first Christmas 2015 sew…

Have you ever bought knit fabric at the store and wondered why the shirt you made just didn’t hang or feel the same as a ready-to-wear tee?

Have you ever been frustrated sewing with knits? Have you watched your feed dogs try to eat your fabric? Or struggled with skipped stitches?

I started sewing 8 years ago (and more obsessively the last four) and I assure you, that I have had all of these struggles. Continue Reading
