Cache Cargo Shorts for Boys Pattern Release and Pattern Giveaway!

Today I have something fun to share with you – a new pattern from Gracious Threads for BOYS!  The Cache Cargo Shorts are the perfect staple for every little (and big!) boy’s wardrobe since there is such a wide size range – all the way from 2-12. Be sure to check out the giveaway details at the end of the post – we have a copy of this new pattern to give away to one lucky Sew and Tell Project reader!

It is the details that set this shorts pattern apart from many of the other shorts patterns available for boys -hip pockets, functional cargo pockets, and a real zipper fly with a button closure. The waistband has back elastic for a comfy fit and directions are included to modify it to be an adjustable elastic waist using buttonhole elastic. I used a 10oz denim for these, but any medium weight fabric with little to no stretch will work.  They are easy to length / shorten – so perfect for this little guy who needs a size 6 width but a size 5 length. Shorts from the store are always WAY too long for him – yet another reason to sew!

This pattern is rated for intermediate/advanced, mostly because the difficulty of the zipper fly. A separate, very thorough step-by-step guide for sewing the fly is able as a free download from Gracious Threads, so its easy to achieve success on the first try. The results are totally worth the effort!

The release of the Cache Cargo Shorts coincides with Gracious Threads’ huge 2.5K Celebration so ALL patterns on the website are 40% off. Be sure to check out the other patterns available from Gracious Threads –  I’m a huge fan of the Swim & Surf Board Shorts for girls, as you can see in my last post.

Ok – now the fun part! Do you want to win a copy of the Cache Cargo Shorts? Just leave a comment here on the blog by noon (EST) on Tuesday, May 30th and we’ll pick a winner that evening!

Shorts look great! I’ve made a lot of pj shorts for my 7 grandsons but none of them have pockets or a fly. I will have to check out the video.
