Be Confident with Ellie and Mac

I have a secret.

I suspect that many of you share the same secret.

I buy pretty fabric. And then I hoard it. Because what if I make something with it but then a pattern that would have suited it better comes along?? WHAT THEN??

I bought a bunch of the Michael Miller Magic wovens on preorder, and they’ve sat in my stash ever since. But then I received a copy of Ellie and Mac‘s Be Confident Tunic and it screamed for the whimsy that this gorgeous Magic fabric provided.

Boom. I think she might like it!

The Be Confident Tunic is a sleeveless hi lo peplum top. The neck and arms are finished with bands. That extreme hi low skirt is so stinkin’ cute!

The pattern is designed for knits in the bodice, neckband, and arm bands, but you can use woven for the skirt. I chose to use one of the Magic knits for my stretchy bits, paired with two of the wovens for the skirt. I have never mixed fabrics like this before; I like the added element it gives, and the look is just a little different than color blocking.

The pattern is clearly written, with precise (and concise) instructions, and plenty of photos to illustrate the steps. I LOVE that the designer has included a finished measurements chart; this gives a much better idea of how much ease is built into the pattern. That can be useful when you’d like to make something special that will fit a growing child a little longer. In this case, Ellie measures a 4, but knowing the finished measurements allowed me to upsize to a 5 so that my precious Michael Miller Magic…ahem…so that this top will last her for a couple of summers. đŸ˜‰

Yes, she knows she’s that cute. And she really does love this tunic. Check out Ellie and Mac during the March Madness sale; buy any 3 patterns, and get 1 free! I’m looking at the Girl’s Fairy Jacket for spring layering. What will you grab?

This is cute and your Ellie looks so pleased with it! I will pass on the sale (and all other sales) because I gave up buying patterns and fabric (and eating chips) for Lent. It has been an effort, but worth it.
