With three kids and no family nearby, my husband and I don’t get to go out on date nights often. So when we get the chance, my first thought is almost always OHMYGOSH WHERE WILL WE EAT?? because I love food. 😉 Ok but seriously, I usually think “What am I going to wear???” first.
When the Mama Claire Two-Way Dolman Top by Made for Mermaids was released, I knew it was a style that I’d like, and I decided rather quickly that I wanted to try it out for this blog tour.

Just because I’m sometimes quiet on the blog doesn’t mean I’ve stopped creating! During all of my holiday sewing this year, I had time to make a new favorite shirt! Â This is the Love Notions Willow Wrap top. The Willow Wrap top includes a straight and asymmetrical hem options. The top has an optional modesty panel and is very nursing friendly. Â And, as a bonus, I used one of Art Gallery Fabrics newest lines to create this look for their lookbook!

Joy is the newest addition to the Made for Mermaids Dreamy collection, and Mama Joy is the very first Mama version!
Here’s a secret: I haven’t worn ANYTHING knee length in years. When I saw the testing call, I was so excited. Just like that, I had a vision of what I wanted to do with the pattern and what fabric I wanted to do it with, and my knees came out of retirement.
Today I’m happy to share with you the newest release from Mummykins and Me – the Paris Party Dress. The timing is perfect – there is still time to sew up one or two of these before the holidays! While the title may have the word ‘dress’ in it, this pattern includes much more than that! There are multiple options for a skirt and top, in addition to the option to sew the two together – especially useful for very little ones. I tested the basic three-quarter length sleeve top with a simple neckband and the knee length skirt with a back elastic option.
Love Notions has been hinting about this pattern for a while now, and anticipation has been high.

I’ve chosen the hooded version in a fun Dr. Who print (poly spandex blend from JoAnn Fabrics). I’ve been hoarding this fabric for what seems like a really long time, but this seemed the perfect use for it. The black fabric is a rib knit, also from JoAnn’s.

My theme for today is Black Friday shopping! While these pictures were taken behind our home with no stores in sight, I do actually leave my little town to do some shopping on Black Friday. In the Midwest, layers are key, so you’ll notice that I used longer sleeves and comfortable knit pieces for my long drive to the store and for all-day comfort. And if there is a blizzard, I’ll be just as comfortable shopping at home from my computer!
This post is a milestone for me in many ways! This is my first sew from the highly-anticipated Issue 13 of One Thimble, my first make using a fabulous Designs by Call Ajaire pattern, and my first post since I returned from Quilt Market 11 days ago!
