FREE Baby Sleep Sack Pattern from Candy Castle Patterns!

Today I have a fantastic free pattern to share with you – the Birthday Brownie Sleep Sack from Candy Castle Patterns! This sleep sack is the perfect project to tackle during naptime since it is quick and easy. It comes in sizes newborn through 12 months and the fit is generous so it is also a sure bet for gifts as well!

The pattern is designed for almost any type of knit fabric so it is suitable for all seasons. There is the option to partially line it or make it fully lined and reversible. I made this one out of a lovely rayon spandex from Raspberry Creek Fabrics and partially lined it. I had originally bought the fabric to make baby girl a swaddle for her newborn days, but time got away from me. It makes my heart happy to see her snuggled in this fabric I so painstakingly picked out for her before she was born. Continue Reading

Advent Preparation: Jesse Tree Ornaments

November is half over already, and the season of Advent is fast approaching.  Now is the time when we are trying to make our Christmas gift shopping lists, plan out Christmas sewing – outfits and gifts alike, design our Christmas cards, and get things organized for the upcoming holidays. Ideally, many of these tasks will be finished before Advent starts four Sundays before Christmas. We can then spend our time throughout the Advent season preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ and experiencing the calm, joyful expectation of the season in the peace of our home with our family.   One beautiful tradition that we are incorporating into this liturgical season is the Jesse Tree. Fat Quarter Skirt and a GIVEAWAY!

Welcome to the Sew and Tell Project! Today I’m excited to tell you about the Fat Quarter Skirt from Thread Riding Hood because it only uses 2 fat quarters AND is the perfect stash buster project!  I’m sure I’m not the only one who buys fat quarters just because they are beautiful, even if I have no idea what I’ll do with them. Right?

The Fat Quarter Skirt comes in sizes 2-6 and is a quick and simple project – perfect for quilters wanting to venture into sewing clothing or maybe even for a little girl who wants to help sew her own clothes. My daughter is content with just picking out the fabrics – she insisted on owls this time. And pink. Always pink. Continue Reading

Hi all!  Today we have some news for you – E+M has joined her sister pattern shop Petitboo and we have a special coupon code to share! As part of the re-branding blog tour, I sewed up the Rose Dress.

The dress itself is comfortable and passes the ‘twirl test’ yet is easy to dress up for Easter and other special occasions. Continue Reading

The Paris Party Dress Release Day!

Today I’m happy to share with you the newest release from Mummykins and Me – the Paris Party Dress.  The timing is perfect –  there is still time to sew up one or two of these before the holidays!  While the title may have the word ‘dress’ in it, this pattern includes much more than that!  There are multiple options for a skirt and top, in addition to the option to sew the two together – especially useful for very little ones.  I tested the basic three-quarter length sleeve top with a simple neckband and the knee length skirt with a back elastic option. Back to School – Peekaboo Pattern Shop Style

Today, as part of the Back to School Blog Tour hosted by Lulu & Celeste and Sprouting JubeJube Productions, I’m happy to share with you this fun and comfy back to school look – Peekaboo Pattern Shop style!

I used the Grand Slam Tee with 3/4 length sleeves and a bit of extra length in hopes that this shirt will last almost the whole school year. The 3/4 length sleeves will stay out of his way as he creates messy art projects but still provide enough warmth to be worn through the fall and winter months. The fabric is fun polyester spandex blend that is reversible – solid on one side, striped on the other. It is a bit thicker than the fabrics normally used for raglans, but it adds a nice bit of structure and warmth making it perfect for cooler weather.  Because of the structure of the fabric and the fact that it is just a 2 way stretch, I finished the neck using a binding method instead of the recommended band. I also added some top-stitching to the sleeve seams to finish off the polished look.  I just love how comfy and soft it turned out! Continue Reading

Vintage Grace Flutter Dress by Bella Sunshine Designs

Today I’m delighted to share with you the newest pattern from Bella Sunshine Designs – the Vintage Grace Flutter Dress! This darling dress is the perfect summer dress for girls. It features little flutter sleeves, a sweet  scooped back, and a simple bodice front that is perfect for embellishments!

I think my favorite part of this dress is the back of the bodice. It is sweet, simple, and really defines the dress.  The three buttons add to the charm. It is the perfect place to add a pop of color or use special buttons.  For this project, I used vintage buttons from the collection that my grandma gave me.  Vintage buttons have so much character – I love incorporating them into almost every project that I can as my own little signature touch.
