I am so excited to be a stop on the Laela Jeyne Summer Collection Patterns Tour! I first started using Laela Jeyne Patterns for myself last fall. Some of the items I have made from Laela Jeyne Patterns have been my most worn items in our closets! Even though this summer has been super busy for us, I could not resist signing up to share about some of the new patterns!
My new favorite top is the Dahlia Tank Top. It looks like a simple tank, but it is hands-down the best tank top I have made for myself. It is fitted, but not too fitted, and includes pattern pieces for different cup sizes! This is HUGE for me. I can print just my size and cup size pieces and get a tank that fits perfectly on the first try! I sewed a size Large B-Cup. (Sewing note: sewing cup sizes are different than bra cup sizes – make sure you measure and go by the chart!) I love sewing clothing for myself from my large stash of cotton lycra knits. My tank is made with 1/4″ knit stripe by Riley Blake Designs. You can grab some here!
It’s a pant…it’s shorts…it’s a skirt…no…IT’S ALLEGRO!
Maybe a bit over the top, but seriously. This pattern is all that AND a bag of chips. I give you the Love Notions Allegro!
The Allegro pattern offers options for shorts with a 5″ or 9″ inseam, a cropped pant, a knee length skirt, or a maxi length skirt. The shorts options can be hemmed or cuffed. The maxi offers two slits up to the knee. All options offer front slash pockets, back patch pockets, and a drawstring waistband.

My daughter’s swimsuits were finished last month, and so this month I decided it was time to attempt something totally different – a maternity swimsuit! I knew when I saw this striped pineapple swim fabric from Peekaboo Fabric Shop that it would be perfect for something for me – although I totally should have ordered more because my daughter fell in love with it after she saw my swimsuit and it looks like it is currently sold out already!

In addition to an outfit for my little miss, I decided to get in on the fun and make a patriotic top for myself… and share a little announcement!
That’s right! This little lady is super excited to be a big sister again! She has been carefully saving her mommy-made dresses for years in hopes of someday having a little sister to pass them on to. And, at the rate she has been growing, the collection of dresses she has quickly outgrown has been increasing faster than we expected! Who knew kids could grow so fast?
A couple weeks ago, I shared a beautiful little dress in my summary of looks for the In Blue Fabrics Lookbook. I showcased this beautiful fabric line with some of my favorite patterns – this time I also shared a new favorite pattern. I promised I would share more details about the Pattern Emporium Spellbound Dress for knits and today is the day!
When the Spellbound released a few months ago, I noticed that it had the perfect silhouette and options that I was looking for to make everyday dresses for summer. I live in knit dresses – and as a taller women with a fluctuating bust and waistline, I have a very difficult time finding dresses that fit me correctly in all the places. I want my dresses to be modern and flirty, but provide enough coverage so I’m not flashing cleavage or back side every time I bend over to pick up my three-year-old.
Summer is finally here!
With school ending, I had some non-dedicated sewing time and decided it was high time to whip up a fun, summery outfit for my middle daughter (who is now a SECOND GRADER!) What says summer more than a cute halter top in a fun print? This is the Be Trendy Halter Top by Ellie and Mac, and I have a copy to give to a lucky reader! The skirt is SLPco’s free Gracie’s Pocket Skirt, and all three of the fabrics came from JoAnn Fabrics.
You have probably heard me mention this before on the blog: Katarina Roccella’s Skopelos line was the line that drew me to the fabulous Art Gallery Fabrics. I think every AGF fan has a particular collection that spoke to them….. and then made them obsessed.

Celebrating the release and blog tour of the Fighter Tee is very special for me. For one reason, it is a pattern designed and written by my friend Kelly of Handmade Boy and drafted by the generous Tami from Love Notions Patterns. For another reason, I have always had great respect for Kelly and the welcoming voice she is in the sewing blog community. Kelly usually has my YES before she even asks. Kelly has asked me to participate in something important – and my yes is resounding.
Love Notions Bluezette is a pattern that I’ve been wanting to try and I’m so excited that I had an excuse to use it! With five skirt options, two bodice choices, and three sleeve lengths, there are so many ways you can put one together. In fact, I ended up making two, and they are going to get so much use this summer.
The dress is designed for knits, but any of the gathered skirt options will work with lighter, drapey fabric choices, and I knew right away that I wanted to use the amazing Art Gallery Rayon in Swifting Flora Boho I’d been hoarding (it’s so soft, and was a dream to sew).
