While looking through my spring and summer wardrobe, I realized one piece I was missing was a lovely sweater to layer over my tops and tanks for those cool spring and summer mornings and evenings. To my delight, Itch to Stitch, a designer I recently discovered, released a testing call for the Lisbon Cardigan right after I noticed this gap in my wardrobe!
The Lisbon Cardigan is available in a full or cropped length as well as with full or 3/4 length sleeves. As testers we were allowed to select which options we wanted to try. After great deliberation, I chose the cropped length and 3/4 length sleeves. I found a beautiful lightweight gray cotton lycra in my stash to use for a nice, neutral layering piece.
The Lisbon Cardigan assembled quickly and easily for the most part. I appreciate that the sleeves aren’t cut on the fold making the back and front armscye just a bit different for a wonderful fit. I had a bit of trouble attaching my front bands but I feel that was more due to the lightweight material I chose as most of the other testers did not experience this same problem.
We were given the choice whether to add buttons or not to the front of our cardigans. I chose to leave the buttons off because I prefer to just leave my sweaters open when I layer over a tee or tank.
My favorite feature of the Lisbon Cardigan is the directions for using a Hong Kong finish on the inside seams. If you choose to use this finish, all your interior seams will be enclosed. It does take some extra time, but it makes for a professionally finished garment! You can use a matching color or a contrast for a fun pop of color!
Overall, the Lisbon Cardigan is a versatile layering piece that can be made from a variety of knits and stretch lace for a beautiful addition to anyone’s wardrobe!
