I had a baby on February 26. In addition to all my feelings of joy (I am so blessed in my husband and three children), another thought soon began racing through my head:
I can test for boys now!! SEW ALL THE BOY BABY CLOTHES!!
So when Peek a Boo Pattern Shop put out a testing call for the Tide Pool Tank, I was all in.
The Tide Pool Tank is a sweet and simple slim-fit tank top with a hood option. I made the 6 month size for my not-quite-three-month-old-chunk, and the fit is spot on. It is on sale today, for Thrifty Thursday, for $6.75. The top is suitable for boys or girls and is sized from 3 months to 12 years.
Seriously. Does it get much cuter than a baby in a hooded tank top?
It’s a very simple sew with just two main seams, arm bindings, and a hem. Even with a newborn, it didn’t take me more than an hour to print (nurse), cut (change diaper), and sew (nurse again) my little guy’s tank. If you add a neck binding instead of the hood, it would go even faster.
I tend to be a bit of an overachiever, and he clearly needed a pair of pants to match his new tank. These are the Happy Feet Pajamas with a simple band at the ankle rather than the feet.
Both knits used here were purchased at Hobby Lobby. I bought a half yard of each (the length of the shirt requires a half yard, give or take, and the hood slightly less), and had enough left to make the pants and a second tank top.
The bands are cotton lycra from Peek a Boo, and the heat transfer vinyl and dragon are from Silhouette. The Young Prince was a little under the weather this week, and in no mood to have his photo taken, but it turned out so cute that I had to share anyway.
Until next time, my friends. Thanks for reading!
