Bluezette Blog Tour

Love Notions Bluezette is a pattern that I’ve been wanting to try and I’m so excited that I had an excuse to use it! With five skirt options, two bodice choices, and three sleeve lengths, there are so many ways you can put one together. In fact, I ended up making two, and they are going to get so much use this summer.

The dress is designed for knits, but any of the gathered skirt options will work with lighter, drapey fabric choices, and I knew right away that I wanted to use the amazing Art Gallery Rayon in Swifting Flora Boho I’d been hoarding (it’s so soft, and was a dream to sew).

It took me quite a while to choose the top, though. I finally found a lacey cotton knit at JoAnn Fabric that, backed with fuschia, is such a fun combination!

This is the blousey bodice option with an elbow length sleeve and a tulip skirt. Both the bodice and the skirt are fully lined. I scooped the neck out just a little deeper than the pattern.

It is so comfy, and pretty, too!

For my second, I decided to mix things up. I mashed the Willow Wrap dress bodice with the Bluezette half circle skirt.

While I love the look of wrap tops and dresses, I very rarely wear short skirts. I found this floral knit at JoAnn Fabrics, and the indigo jegging came from my favorite online fabric store, Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop. Because the jegging material was a little heavier than the floral, I used clear elastic in the shoulder and waist seams.

Because I assume I’ll need to nurse my son while wearing this dress, I also sewed the clear elastic into the neckline hem, from end to end, to help secure the low cut, keeping it from creeping down and gaping open. This fabric is a very stretchy four way knit, and the elastic really helps to stabilize it and aid in recovery.

The Ladies Bluezette is on sale for $8 during the tour, and the Girls Bluezette for $6. The sale is good this week only, and you definitely need this pattern in your lineup!
