The Muttonchop! Duchess and Hare Blog Tour & Giveaway

I’m so happy to be part of Duchess and Hare’s first blog tour. Please see the post schedule below and be sure to visit the other participants! The prizes are 5 Duchess and Hare Patterns and a $25 gift certificate to Threads and Stitches Fabric…may the odds be ever in your favor!

Duchess and Hare are a new-to-me pattern company featuring vintage-inspired patterns with a modern fit. We were given our choice of pattern to sew up from the shop, and I decided to sew a Muttonchop Dress with a short sleeve. It took me a while to figure out the name; the long-sleeved version of this cute top or dress has a fitted bottom with the flared shoulder, giving it the look of a (say it with me now)…Muttonchop! Sew Americana

Today I’m excited to be kicking off the week with my contribution to the Sew Americana Blog Tour hosted by Katy at Wild and Wanderful!  The 4th of July is always a festive occasion around here and this year is no exception. In addition to an outfit for my little miss,  I decided to get in on the fun and make a patriotic top for myself… and share a little announcement!

That’s right! This little lady is super excited to be a big sister again!  She has been carefully saving her mommy-made dresses for years in hopes of someday having a little sister to pass them on to.  And, at the rate she has been growing, the collection of dresses she has quickly outgrown has been increasing faster than we expected!  Who knew kids could grow so fast?  Continue Reading

The amazing Spellbound by Pattern Emporium

A couple weeks ago, I shared a beautiful little dress in my summary of looks for the In Blue Fabrics Lookbook. I showcased this beautiful fabric line with some of my favorite patterns – this time I also shared a new favorite pattern. I promised I would share more details about the Pattern Emporium Spellbound Dress for knits and today is the day!

When the Spellbound released a few months ago, I noticed that it had the perfect silhouette and options that I was looking for to make everyday dresses for summer. I live in knit dresses – and as a taller women with a fluctuating bust and waistline, I have a very difficult time finding dresses that fit me correctly in all the places. I want my dresses to be modern and flirty, but provide enough coverage so I’m not flashing cleavage or back side every time I bend over to pick up my three-year-old. Continue Reading

Bluezette Blog Tour

Love Notions Bluezette is a pattern that I’ve been wanting to try and I’m so excited that I had an excuse to use it! With five skirt options, two bodice choices, and three sleeve lengths, there are so many ways you can put one together. In fact, I ended up making two, and they are going to get so much use this summer.

The dress is designed for knits, but any of the gathered skirt options will work with lighter, drapey fabric choices, and I knew right away that I wanted to use the amazing Art Gallery Rayon in Swifting Flora Boho I’d been hoarding (it’s so soft, and was a dream to sew). Continue Reading

Mother’s Day Sewing: Love Notions Tidal to the Rescue!

I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I made my first Love Notions Tidal Dress! Recently, the generous people at Art Gallery Fabrics sent me some of their beautiful new Charleston collection by Amy Sinibaldi  to make another Tidal.

Since my previous Tidals have been made featuring 2 prints, I decided to showcase how the Tidal looks in just one bold print. I think the look really suits my style! And hint: Love Notions is running a Mother’s Day Sale right now: 25% off all single patterns using code: motherslove. This sale is good through Monday so now is a good time to shop! Continue Reading

Growing Up Handmade

I have a teenager.

Weird, right? This itty bitty girl is now nearly 14 and in the 8th grade:

This was a flower girl dress that I made her. Back then, she liked party dresses with fluffy skirts, and ruffles, and bows, and really anything Mommy made her. Things sure have changed! She still likes the things that I make her, but the focus has changed. I think now it’s more about my taking the time and thought to make her something, while still wanting to look like her friends. The hardest sewing lesson I’ve had to learn is to listen to her and use fabrics and patterns that she likes. We still have our disagreements, but giving up the ruffles and florals when I sew for her has gone a long way. Now, if we could only find the perfect compromise to hemlines and NOT having everything fit like dance wear… Continue Reading

Beautiful Bike Fabric for a Sweet Spring Dress!

Spring is in the air!

The birds are chirping and the grass is starting to perk up a bit after being beneath a blanket of snow for nearly 5 months. One of our family’s favorite things to do during the warmer months is go on family bike rides. I think there is something so timeless about cycling as a family activity.

K’s Closet Apparel is going to start sharing some of it’s beautiful fabric which is now open for pre-order. I was lucky enough to receive a 1 yard strike-off to work with of the beautiful Blue Bikes print. The preorder for this round of fabrics is open until 4/14. I love so many prints, so be sure to check them all out! I especially have my eye on those turtles and camping themed print! Continue Reading

Fashions for a Fiesta!

Hola! I am proud to be a stop on the Fiesta Fun Fabrics blog tour today!

Last fall, I had the privilege of attending Quilt Market with Simple Life Pattern Company. Right before market, I started seeing sneaks of the Fiesta Fun fabric line by Dana Willard. I drooled over the swatches and waited anxiously for this line to be released.

I actually made a few things for the look book when the line released such as this Simple Life Pattern Company Sophie. Continue Reading

Quick, Flattering, Fashionable: The Coffee Shop Dress by Sew Caroline

A few weeks ago, I got to be a stop on the beautiful Here Comes the Fun Fabrics blog tour. I’ve been obsessed with the Sew Caroline fabric lines for quite awhile, but have only recently started sewing through some of her beautiful pattern collection.

Right after I made my first Sew Caroline pattern, I saw Caroline’s sneak of The Coffee Shop Dress on Instagram and just had to make one!

I haven’t been able to button my jeans since 8 weeks, so I guess it’s time to #freethebump 🤰🏻🤷🏻‍♀️ #herecomesthefunfabrics #coffeeshopdress #herecomesbabyhulse2 Continue Reading
