Beautiful Bike Fabric for a Sweet Spring Dress!

Spring is in the air!

The birds are chirping and the grass is starting to perk up a bit after being beneath a blanket of snow for nearly 5 months. One of our family’s favorite things to do during the warmer months is go on family bike rides. I think there is something so timeless about cycling as a family activity.

K’s Closet Apparel is going to start sharing some of it’s beautiful fabric which is now open for pre-order. I was lucky enough to receive a 1 yard strike-off to work with of the beautiful Blue Bikes print. The preorder for this round of fabrics is open until 4/14. I love so many prints, so be sure to check them all out! I especially have my eye on those turtles and camping themed print! Continue Reading

Fashions for a Fiesta!

Hola! I am proud to be a stop on the Fiesta Fun Fabrics blog tour today!

Last fall, I had the privilege of attending Quilt Market with Simple Life Pattern Company. Right before market, I started seeing sneaks of the Fiesta Fun fabric line by Dana Willard. I drooled over the swatches and waited anxiously for this line to be released.

I actually made a few things for the look book when the line released such as this Simple Life Pattern Company Sophie. Continue Reading

Be Confident with Ellie and Mac

I have a secret.

I suspect that many of you share the same secret.

I buy pretty fabric. And then I hoard it. Because what if I make something with it but then a pattern that would have suited it better comes along?? WHAT THEN??

I bought a bunch of the Michael Miller Magic wovens on preorder, and they’ve sat in my stash ever since. But then I received a copy of Ellie and Mac‘s Be Confident Tunic and it screamed for the whimsy that this gorgeous Magic fabric provided. Continue Reading

Fat Quarter Skirt and a GIVEAWAY!

Welcome to the Sew and Tell Project! Today I’m excited to tell you about the Fat Quarter Skirt from Thread Riding Hood because it only uses 2 fat quarters AND is the perfect stash buster project!  I’m sure I’m not the only one who buys fat quarters just because they are beautiful, even if I have no idea what I’ll do with them. Right?

The Fat Quarter Skirt comes in sizes 2-6 and is a quick and simple project – perfect for quilters wanting to venture into sewing clothing or maybe even for a little girl who wants to help sew her own clothes. My daughter is content with just picking out the fabrics – she insisted on owls this time. And pink. Always pink. Continue Reading

Guess What is Coming to the Sew and Tell Project?!

I (Alisha) have been quite quiet over here on the blog for quite a few months. I hope you missed me! I have a wonderful reason for being so quiet. We are expecting baby #5 in about 8 weeks! Right now I have 4 boys, ages 9, 7, 6, and 3, and we are very excited to announce that we are expecting a little girl! It was shocking news that I’m not sure I’ll believe until I actually see her!

Getting to sew little girl clothes has been so much fun! Caroline Hulse of Sew Caroline, a designer for Art Gallery Fabrics, provided me with some beautiful designs from her Chalk and Paint collection to sew up for my new little girl. Continue Reading

A New Take on a Onesie from Peekaboo Pattern Shop!

Can you really have too many bodysuits for your babies?
That’s a trick question because the answer is no. No you can’t!
Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop is expanding their Lullaby Line with the Cardigan Bodysuit.

This bodysuit (or onesie, if you prefer) has the look of a classic cardigan with the diaper-changing ease of a snap placket at the crotch. The pattern fits sizes newborn through 4t, and the newborn size will fit most 18″ dolls. There is an option for a faux undershirt, and a short sleeve or long sleeve with cuffs.

Genie choose to make her little man’s with comfy cotton lycra from the Peek-a-boo Pattern Shop. The stripe is from the Knit Basics collection (Yarn Dyed 3/8″ Gray & White Stripe, and it was a lovely fabric. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a bargain line of fabric, but this is a nice weight, soft, and has great recovery. The blue can be found here. Continue Reading
