Welcome Spring, Welcome Flutterby!

Hey guys!

Eleri and I have a treat of a top and dress pattern to share with you today. The Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop is releasing the Flutterby Top and Dress pattern and it is on sale for $6.75 today (4/14). The pattern features a raglan style top or dress with flutter sleeves in sizes 3 mo to 12.

You probably know by now that Eleri loves all the knit dresses from the Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop. Usually, Eleri sews her child’s ready-to-wear size with some added length. Because of the deep armscye and raglan ruffle neck, it is imperative to pay close attention to the size chart on this sew. Eleri usually sews a 10 for her Big Miss, but sized down to an 8 for this test and got perfect results.

One of her favorite things about this top is that it does have some additional length, so it was sewn as a straight 8 with no modifications. Eleri loves this because sometimes she just wants to sew without needing to tweak everything. The little flare is at the hips is especially darling in both top and dress lengths.

The Flutterby is also great for using your cotton lycra scraps (wovens also work for the flutter sleeves). Eleri was able to eek out one more top out of the Fantasy Floral she preordered a few months ago. The custom fabric at the PAB Fabric Shop wears well and has great recovery, so getting one more garment out of the preorder was a real treat!

When I was chosen to test the pattern for my 12 year old, I was a little concerned that it would be too young for her discerning tween tastes.

Fortunately, she says she loves it! She’s even worn it a few times since the photo shoot, and I’m so going to take that as a compliment!

The fit on this is great. She was right on the border of the measurement requirements, but there’s just enough ease and length in this pattern, coupled with lovely stretchy knits, that it’s a great fit for her. The little flare at the hips is perfect for girls like mine who are beginning to develop. I did add about an inch to the hem for my tall girl, but made no other adjustments.

A dancer through and through, her final judgement is that it’s so comfy that she could dance in it. The Flutterby Top and Dress pattern will only be on sale Thursday, April 14, so don’t miss out! I see many more being made for my girls this summer.
